10 weeks to go till the Pittwater to Paradise Regatta

It's only 10 weeks till the big race north to the warm sunshine of Queensland and the waters off the Gold Coast.

The Committee have been busy contacting boat owners, updating you on the new race format and entry requirements and the feedback has been that finding crew for some has been difficult be it crew experience or gaining the required professional qualifications. To assist we have outlined the eligibility requirements below and some means to meet them.

Refer to the Notice of Race for full eligibility requirements especially those in the Shorthanded Division.

Crew and gaining Crew Experience

Under the Australian Special Regulations 2.04, boats in a Category 2 event are required to have 50% of their crew with Category 1 or 2 or equivalent race experience.
How do I get this?
  • Have crew compete in a Category 2 event, such as: Boondelah race on 25 November with RPAYC. The Cabbage Tree Island Race on 10 November with CYCA. This maybe on your vessel or another entrants vessels in those races.
  • Participate in an equivalent Passage sail of 24hrs overnight offshore as approved by the Organising Authority. Contact the RPAYC if you wish to partake in an organised passage sail with experienced offshore sailors from the Club.
  • Do you have offshore crew experience but don't have a boat? Contact the Sailing Office who can put you in contact with a skipper or register on the MySailTeam Pittwater to Paradise link below.
RPAYC have Teamed up with MySail.Team !
A dedicated event crew site has been setup so crew and boat owners can find each other. Thirty+ crew are seeking the opportunity already.
